Who isn’t a fan of a good freebie? When you’re working on a tight budget, an awesome free design resource can make things a whole lot easier. 

It’s crazy how much is out there just waiting to be used! 

So, to help you out and save you a mountain of time, I had a chat with our in-house design team to hear about their favorite free design resources. 

Whether you’re looking for fresh assets or just some inspiration for your next project, I’ve got you covered. 

Let’s jump in…

1. Coolors

If you’re looking to create beautiful color schemes, then you’ll want to head on over to coolors.co This is a quick and easy way to find colors that work together, plus you can even start with selecting colors from one of your own images! A super neat tool – but be warned it’s pretty addictive!  

2. WhatFont 

This free Chrome extension is the easiest way to find out which fonts have been used on a webpage. It’s super simple to use – just hover over the text and you’ll see the name of the font displayed, or click on the text on the webpage to reveal even more information, such as style, weight, and size. No more guesswork, woohoo!

3. Undraw

In need of beautiful illustrations for a project? One word – Undraw. You’ll find an awesome collection of open-source illustrations here. You can even customize the main color to match your brand, then simply download and use wherever. 

4. Icons 8

With over 90,000 free icons to choose from, Icons 8 is a website that you’ll keep going back to. You can download packs or single icons all completely free of charge. They also offer a super cool service where if you can’t find the icon you’re after, they’ll draw it for free! 

5. Eggradients

Yep, you’ve guessed it, gradient color palettes in the shape of eggs. Why? Well, why not? There are over 200 visually pleasing color palettes to choose from and each one has been given a unique name, some of our favorites include Valyrian Steel, Edison’s Broken Bulb, and Retired Singer.

We’d go as far to say that it’s a pretty eggcellent tool…(sorry, couldn’t resist)

6. Canva

Of course, we couldn’t do a blog post about free design resources and not mention Canva. If you need to design something that looks great and won’t take you hours, then you’ll love Canva. This flexible graphic design tool offers a huge range of templates to help get you started, or you can choose to start from scratch. Trust us, you’ll be creating awesome designs in no time! 

7. Paaatterns

When your deadlines are fast approaching but your project is lacking in strong visual style, head over to Paaatterns. You’ll find 22 visually pleasing patterns to download, all completely free and customizable – the only catch is that you’ll need to provide an email address, but you can easily opt-out of future comms. 

8. Google Fonts

Web giant Google built a large directory of open-source web fonts for designers to use as they wish. You can easily share favorites and collaborate with friends and colleagues. Beautiful web fonts are now available to everyone. Thanks Google!

9. Humaaans

Illustrated figures are a huge design trend at the moment so this free collection by designer Pablo Stanley is going to save you a ton of design time. You can mix and match, plus rotate and position their elements however you like. Anything you design is free for both commercial and personal use. 

10. Dribbble 

As well as being a great place to find your next design job, Dribbble is a great site for creative inspiration and also offers a ton of free design elements. With a little searching around, you can find a bunch of free fonts and vectors. Plus, you’ll also find some free storyboard illustrations – perfect for those upcoming pitches.
